Drinking to stop the nightmares didn't work
After getting out of the Navy, Michael had severe knee damage, frequent nightmares, and trouble sleeping. He started drinking a lot. Once he was diagnosed with PTSD, Michael got help from VA and found better ways to cope. He urges anyone who feels things aren't quite right to reach out for help.
